Week 23 of Half Ironman Training

16 06 2012

It was a pretty lackluster week.  The positive thing is that I’ve had no pain with my workouts.  The negative thing is that I barely fit in any of my planned workouts….  On Sunday we drove back from Edmonton and then went to pick up my bike, so we did a short bike ride, but I was too tired to do anything else.  Come to think of it, fatigue was the main reason I didn’t hit all my workouts.  Fatigue and again with the nausea.  And the whole work thing.  It’s been busy this week, I worked an evening and couple extra hours, so it’s been hectic.  And with the pool being closed.  I digress.

Swim.  Only swam once.  It was in the outdoor pool which I love.  I did just under an hour and swam 2300m.  This gave me a little confidence boost that I will be ok doing the distance at my half ironman next month.  Unfortunately due to pool closures and the limited lane swim times of the outdoor pool, I didn’t get for another swim this week.

Bike.   Sadly, I only got out on my road bike once…. just once.  I did 35 km one morning before work.  I was on my mountain bike twice and got to hit the trails with it and it was so much fun!

Run.  Felt good for the two runs I managed to squeeze in.  I did 12km by myself and 9km with a couple girls before work one morning.  It was great.  For the 9k, I ran the whole thing and felt fine keeping an average 5:40 pace, which was conversational for me.  For me, this is fast for an easy conversational paced run… especially lately.

SWIM = 2300 m
BIKE = 60 km
RUN = 21 km

Ugh.  Hoping next week will be better.  Still went for yoga as well!  Race day tomorrow for olympic tri….
